SOJOURNS

The sojourns of refugees and nomads, their intersecting moments, and how historic western politics have shaped the current political and social displacement of the international refugee crisis are the base of the concept and collection. The background of the Designer being in architecture and interiors, in conjunction with Afghan, Tibetan, and North African traditional nomadic garb, have helped to inform the silhouettes, in terms of oversized, draped and wrapped woolen outerwear. Layered pieces, Removable details such as collars, exaggerated ties, and stretch jersey tops, help to emphasize the need for comfortable and adaptive garments. His personal experiences have culminated in his strong desire to explore the intimate relationship between the wearer and the garments. The wearer experiences the aspects of the weight on ones shoulders and the unbearable discomfort of discrimination that occurs as a refugee and a person of color.
